The London EV Show is an important initiative by Valiant Business Media towards advancing green mobility and reducing carbon footprint in the UK and across the world and has certainly emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting EV events of 2021 in terms of participation and execution.

The event took place at The Business Design Centre, a certified carbon-neutral venue in the beautiful city of London and convened important stakeholders from the entire EV ecosystem for high-level constructive deliberations, high-quality networking and excellent knowledge sharing.

The event witnessed the participation of more than 2000 in-person and online attendees hailing from the UK and across the globe. London EV Show 2021 featured some of the top names from EV Space whose presence made the event highly engaging for both in-person and online attendees. 68 exhibitors along with the EV pioneers were on the ground showcasing new models and innovative solutions and exchanging hands-on knowledge about the latest offerings to an enthused audience.

Participants were able to gain the access to high-calibre content from the outstanding speaker lineup who provided groundbreaking insights on the electrifying future of the hypercompetitive EV sector and also engaged in high-level strategic discussions with high-profile panels and acquired constructive answers to the intricate questions in a highly collaborative environment.

Key Highlights From London EV Show 2021

The London EV Show culminated on a high note and has already been marked as a ‘Must-attend’ on 2022’s event calendar by industry professionals. Over a 3 day period, the show hosted a massive exhibition showcasing next-gen technologies, innovative solutions, the latest EV models and a comprehensive conference providing both governmental and business narratives of the EV landscape, challenges and upcoming opportunities in the booming EV sector. Here is a quick recap from Europe’s most-comprehensive EV industry conference of 2021:

  • The show featured some of the key players from the automotive industry and amassed the participation of over 2000 in-person & virtual attendees, representing more than 70 countries from across the globe, making this a truly global event held in the beautiful city of London.
  • The event hosted a stellar lineup of world-class speakers who provided some groundbreaking insights on different facets of the eMobility sector. Over a course of 3 days important panel sessions, strategic deliberations and 1-2-1 meetings took place with great fervour.
  • An important national campaign @fairchargeuk was launched by the leading transport campaigner and electric car ambassador, Quentin Willson to push important issues of charging cost, infrastructure, charging times, battery range, and wider EV access in a bid to advance EV adoption across the UK.
  • Alex Gilbert, Head of Energy and Electrification; Commercial Development and Dr Polyvios Polyviou, The Strategy and Planning Manager – EVs & Freight Lead from Transport For London joined the opening session of the conference where they unveiled London’s 2030 vehicle infrastructure strategy to NetZero 2030.
  • In another important keynote Dr Mansour Alturki, Hon. Deputy Minister for Planning and Information and the Supervisor of the Vision Realization Office, Ministry of Transport & Logistic Services – Kingdom of Saudi Arabia shed light on the kingdom’s roadmap towards sustainability as a part of Vision 2030 and discussed the kingdoms plan to reach NetZero by 2060 and other sustainability initiatives including advancing EV adoption in the Kingdom. He also laid emphasis on the need for global powers to come together and chart out the strategy to advance EV adoption through collaboration.
  • From the manufacturer’s side Dr Thomas Becker, Vice President Sustainability & Mobility – BMW Group shared some invaluable insights on the group’s plans for vehicle electrification and its impact on the future of the entire value chain.
  • The future is electrifying and EV’S are indeed at the cusp of becoming mainstream across the world but all it requires is the collaboration between different actors including government, automakers, charging providers, business leaders and people at large was the key highlight from the presentation of Mats Bredborg, the Head of Digital Infrastructure, Volvo Construction Equipment.
  • Many influential EV advocates from different facets of the Value chain discussed the road to 2030 NetZero in several keynote addresses and panel sessions over the course of 3 days at the London EV Show. They emphasised the importance of a unified approach from all stakeholders of the EV value chain to reach the NetZero goals as mandated by the government over the years and also discussed challenges and opportunities for the overall EV market.
  • They also pointed out the need to develop a robust charging infrastructure including not only the design of charging stations but also the materials and way energy is provided, across Europe at a fast pace since it is imperative for electrifying the mobility sector.
  • Another prevalent narrative voiced and unanimously agreed upon by the key presenters during the conference was the need for strong governmental & institutional support to advance the EV adoption spirit by incentivising the EVs through constructive policies & schemes not only to masses but extending those benefits to nurture the startup culture in the EV sector.
  • Also, several influential speakers from the industry’s top service providers including grid service companies, charging & infrastructure companies, battery & battery management software providers, and other service providers highlighted various innovative & revolutionary tech offerings and the way forward for an all-electric future with wider & inquisitive EV enthusiasts.
  • The conference at London EV Show was not only focused on Electric vehicles but also has some great minds speaking on the possibilities of using the revolutionary technology in aviation including Erin Beilherz, MD CleanTech Hub – Lufthansa group delivering a very insightful keynote on how empowering the deep tech can lead us to sustainable aviation in future with a special reference to Lufthansa group. We also learned about the revolutionary UAM ecosystem, vertical lift and the future of the sustainable flight industry in the years to come and how it is going to change the way we commute forever.

All in all, what we can gather from it is quite clear that the ‘future is indeed electrifying’.
